Do I need a survey?

Unsure whether you need a survey?
Take our quick quiz to find out if your project needs a survey.

Supporting confident landscaping planning

Our measured surveys ensure commercial landscaping projects have the best information possible to work from. We provide topographical and measured building surveys to support landscape designers and other landscape experts. We ensure they have essential information to fully understand existing site measurements and features. We can also assist at the construction stage with setting out for the groundworks, ensuring the plans and designs come to life correctly.

How our surveys benefit commercial landscaping

What is considered a commercial landscaping project?

A commercial landscaping project includes the design and build of new outdoor space for commercial and public sector buildings. These can include office blocks, schools and hospitals. Commercial landscaping plans are also required for housing estates, parks and other public areas.

Our site survey measurements are performed before any design work begins. This enables landscape architects and designers to prioritise the creative process. They also have the comfort of knowing they will start working from an accurate and scaled site plan.

All our surveys are issued in CAD format that is compatible with the majority of design software used by the commercial landscape design sector. We can also provide the existing site plan in other formats that you may need.

A detailed landscaping site plan will show the existing features and levels of a site. This is geo-referenced, so landscape architects and designers can assess any challenges early on. The project team can proactively address these, preventing delays at a later stage.

Having accurate and up to date information allows the commercial landscaping project team to plan better. This supports the whole project with more realistic timelines, more accurate budgets and a better understanding of resource requirements.

Once the design process is complete, we can assist with marking out the landscaping plan for all the key soft and hard landscaping features. This ensures contractors can be clear of where to build structures and plant the natural features.

Commercial landscaping projects we’ve supported

New Housing Estate

Landscaping Contractor

A landscaping contractor had been engaged by a national house builder for one of their new developments. They needed to plant all the new trees and shrubs, including a tree-lined boulevard.

The position of the trees was very important for the new site, so the landscaper engaged Cheshire Surveys to mark out their proposed positions. This helped ensure that the trees could all be planted in the correct position.

Meadow and Woodland Creation

Retail Business with Green Space

A retail company with land surrounding their premises was creating a new wildflower meadow and woodland. At the start of the project, Cheshire Surveys provided a topographical survey of the existing land. This would inform the design of this environmental scheme.

We returned to the site once the landscaping design had been completed. We set out the position of the key features on the planting plan, including the trees for the woodland area.

Drainage Improvements on Large Country Estate

Private Estate

The Head Gardener at the estate was overseeing drainage improvements in the grounds of the property. This involved landscaping works to create a new pond. Cheshire Surveys provided the ground level information for the new pond and the area feeding into it. This enabled the client to design the proposed levels correctly for the creation of the new pond and the flows into it.
